In this engaging episode of "Concerts That Made Us," Brian, sits down with the talented musician Carla to delve into her musical journey and her latest creative endeavors. The conversations kicks off with a discussion about Carla's album "Layers" which she discusses with palpable enthusiasm. She delves into the creative process behind the album, explaining how each track is meant to peel back the different aspects of her artistry and personal experiences, much like layers being uncovered. Carla is proud of the depth and variety present in the album, and she's eager for her fans to explore the nuances of her music. She also opens up about the collaboration with local artists and how she wished to highlight the immense wealth of talent within her local community.
Carla is particularly excited to discuss her upcoming single. She's aiming for a tune that's so catchy it will stick in listeners' heads, even if it risks being played so frequently that it becomes ubiquitous. Carla is well aware of the fine line between a hit song and one that can potentially wear out its welcome, but she's confident that her new track will strike the right balance.
Carla also reminisces about the live shows she has played, recounting memorable performances and the electric atmosphere of connecting with an audience. She and Brian exchange stories about the power of live music and the unforgettable experiences that concerts can create, both for the performer and the fans.
During the conversation, Carla's vibrant personality shines through as she shares her current personal obsession with sour candies. She also indulges in a hypothetical scenario, musing about who she would choose as her ideal company if she were ever locked in a room. Without hesitation, she names the legendary musicians Miriam Makeba and Freddie Mercury, citing their incredible talent and the profound influence they've had on her as an artist.
This episode is a perfect example of the hard work and perseverance that it takes to make it in the music industry.
