Ivan Funkboy Bodley - Bassist/Music Director to the Stars

Ivan Funkboy Bodley - Bassist/Music Director to the Stars

This week I am joined by Ivan "Funkboy" Bodley. Ivan has had an unbelievable career to date. He has played with 50 rock and roll hall of fame inductees and is himself an inductee of the blues hall of fame.

He is the ideal guest to have on Concerts That Made Us. From his introduction to concerts, seeing Donny Osmond, missing the chance to see Ike and Tina Turner to being a member of not one but three bands while in high-school gaining the adoration of fellow students. He then went on to work on college radio where he interviewed The Ramones, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, R.E.M. Jaco Pastorius and Stanley Clarke to name a few.

As he progressed through his career he managed to work with a lot of his heroes with many becoming friends such as Moses Mo of Mothers Finest, Sam Moore of Sam and Dave, Shirley Alston Reeves of the Shirelles and Stanley Clarke.

Some of the amazing achievements we cover include Ivan's appearances on Broadway playing in productions such as Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the Donna Summer musical, Spiderman on Broadway and many more. He also played with Sam Moore, Elvis Costello and Sting at President Barack Obama's Inauguration. These are just some of the amazing stories you will hear in this jam packed episode.

Ivan has also recently published a book about his career as a "Working Class Rockstar" called "Am I Famous Yet?"
